Fescues
Fescues are known to be a bit fancy! You can find fescue grass seeds in most ‘luxury’ lawn mixes, . There are different types of fescues, here are some of the favourites:

Chewings Fescue
Named after Mr Chewing's who first grew this grass seed! as Chewing's Fescue is fine leafed , drought tolerant, salt tolerant and suits close mowing it's ideal for an ornamental lawn.

Strong Creeping Red Fescue
This seed is GREAT at helping to establish your lawn. Instead of growing solely upwards like most grasses, creeping fescues will weave themselves into your other grasses to help sustain a substantial sward.

Slender Creeping Red Fescue
Slender Creeping Red Fescue isn’t unlike its strong sister, but its leaves are much finer, when it;s blended it can produce beautiful stripes.

Sheeps Fescue
Sheeps Fescue is used occasionally as a pasture grass – but is also an incredibly shade tolerant grass that will help grass grow in areas with low sunlight.

Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass
This grass is shade and drought tolerant, hard wearing with the added ability to recover well after heavy use. It's also excellent if your lawn is super shady!

Perennial Ryegrass
Perennial Ryegrass is a real all-rounder. Hard wearing, temperature tolerant, fast growing, and germinating at low temperatures, this is a grass seed that knows how to preform – whatever the weather! OUR MOST POPULAR SEED.

Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass
Dwarf ryegrass is a specifically bred strain of perennial ryegrass, selected for its shorter growth habit and its ability to produce low growing tillers and subsequently a thicker sward than standard ryegrass species.

Understanding Lawn Seed Varieties

Taking lawn care to the next level!

“My lawns were in terrible shape and had been for many years. A large proportion of the lawns are shaded under ten 50ft + lime trees and as such, many parts of the lawns were bare and in other parts were in poor condition. I had a succession of lawn care companies over the years who just applied weed and feed on the lawns with an almost robotic schedule, with little or no effect.
I was recommended James who came to assess the condition of the lawns and he put together a 6 to 8 week plan to renovate the lawns. This involved amongst other things, scarifying, re-seeding with specifically selected seeds and a comprehensive vitamin and mineral treatment. Starting in mid-June to completing the renovation in mid-September, the lawns have been completely transformed into lush and healthy grass which has been admired by of our neighbours. All through this renovation process James also took over the responsibility of cutting the grass to specific levels. Bearing in mind that most of the work was carried out in record breaking heat and drought this year, this was a major achievement.
James applies a more scientific and very personal approach to lawn care and understands that grass needs more specific and timely treatment rather than a scheduled prescriptive approach as many lawn care specialists provide. He even came by and watered the lawns during his renovation work whilst my wife and I were on holiday for three weeks. After the growing period, typically end of November he will recommend a treatment programme going forward to help maintain the lawns, specially to help the grass under the lime trees.
We are very pleased with James’s work and obvious dedication to his trade and would highly recommend him to anyone”.
